Bonjour mes amis! I hope you've all enjoyed the Christmas break, enjoyed time with your nearest & dearest, partied hard and stuffed yourself too the eyeballs with festive food - I certainly did. I also had a little internet/ social media detox (oh the joys of writing a dissertation) but am raring to go with some exciting projects and ideas coming up for 2016...
2015 was a mixed one for me. Some personal and university struggles proved for a high level of anxiety at some moments that sometimes got the better of me. Balancing this with my beloved blog which is now turning into more of a beloved business also meant pressure was on. But as I said, mixed in were some absolutely amazing parts.
I had the time of my life skiing in Austria for the first time (and didn't totally suck!), completed an internship at The Times on their fashion desk and had two articles published, attended my third Paris Fashion Week, turned twenty one, became a part of Fashion Chick's original blogger network, spent a spontaneous, sangria and sun-soaked few days in Majorca with my main girl Lizzy, completed another year at London College of Fashion and 2/3 of my degree, flew out to Amsterdam for their fashion week with Fashion Chick and bunked up with some awesome blogger girlies in an insane apartment, stayed on for an extra few fantastic days whilst my best friend Milly came out to meet me, came home to London for all of 7 hours before heading back to Gatwick for the most idyllic week in Mykonos with my incredible boyfriend Dave, spent another idyllic week in cornwall with my family followed by another lovely week with his, just about remembered how to surf, attended another rainy London Fashion Week (but the shows were still as mesmerising as ever), embarked on the final stint of my BA Fashion Journalism degree (here's where the fun slows down, haha), went to the wildest halloween rave for Milly's birthday, had the most incredible lobster dinner at The Big Easy for Dave's birthday, made it through the first term of my final year, had countless laughs and catch ups with friends throughout the party season, cooked Christmas dinner by myself for my whole family (and it went down an absolute treat!), had the wettest and windiest but most wonderful New Years in Cornwall with some awesome people. And I think I'll finish my dissertation in time for next weeks deadline. Not bad at all eh?
Online, especially in the blogging industry, it's so easy to compare yourself to others. I know I certainly did when fellow friends, bloggers and other Instagram fashion-friends alike showed off their incredible milestones, travels and accomplishments. But, when you take a couple of minutes to really reflect on your own progress, as I have above, it's amazing to see how much can change and how much you can do in a year. Sometimes I see peers excelling in ways I'm not and put too much pressure on myself if I'm not achieving exactly the same things, I let myself forget I'm only 21 and only just finishing University. So what if you didn't travel the world (though I didn't do too badly;)) or land that incredible job, be proud of all the other amazing things you did do. Life is full of ups and downs and everyone moves at a different pace.
Now enough of the soppy stuff. I hope you've enjoyed this reflective, different kind of personal post and of course today's look. Though Christmas is over, it feels like winter temperatures are only just starting in the UK so I'm still bundling up like a bug in a rug. Shop my look via the links above or images below and have an absolutely smashing 2016 girls. Lots of love.

Thanks Dionne, fingers crossed hey?! Hope you have a great year too. x
DeleteThat's such good advice I'm in my last year of sixth form and I know it's nothing like university but I totally feel that way when it comes to juggling things and then I end up comparing myself to others, which just never helps lol. I honestly think that your blog is so good it's literally my fave and you've done so much and I think you're going to be even greater in the years to come x
ReplyDeleteThanks for such a lovely comment Sephora it really put a smile on my face. Sixthform or University it's still always hard to find a balance, I'm finding planning ahead is really helping me at the moment! x
DeleteThanks! x
ReplyDeleteWinter is here I am so much excited! But in winters it is too hard to look beautiful, trendy and stay warm. But I love this look. I think layering is the best option if you want to follow winter fashion trends.
