Do you ever have those days where you are fed up with almost everything in your wardrobe? When nothing seems to look right, you can't find that bloody blouse anywhere and are on the verge of cancelling your plans out of sheer frustration? Me too girl. During a recent 'ffs I have nothing to wear' tantrum, I resorted to rifling through my mum's wardrobe in hope of some inspiration – something I haven't done since my teenage years, when I was sans money and sense of proper style.
Much to my triumphant joy, I unearthed this gorgeous mohair knit nestled at the back of a shelf. I'd actually been looking for something similar to this in cream for a while, but actually love how this pinky lilac tone gives the knit a kind of candyfloss texture. It's also of course, super warm – just what we need in these icy temperatures (though, I admit I did it did get a bit sweltering running from press day to press day a couple weeks back!).
Camel and lilac make a dream colour combo for me, so I threw my new favourite robe coat over the top and kept the rest of the look simple and all black with some western details to tie in with the vintage vibe of the knit.
Do you guys have any recent good vintage finds or something a family member's given you that you love to wear? I'd love to hear below! After discovering this beauty even in my own house and picking up a couple of vintage pieces in New York in October, I'm making it my mission to hunt down some more unique pieces for my wardrobe. Whilst I can't link you to this jumper exactly (it's one of a kind – hand made by my mum's friend back in the 80's) I've found a few similar ones on Etsy here.
Shop the look: Vintage knit (vintage here and here, high st here and here), Wallis coat, Dorothy Perkins jeans, River Island boots, Missoma necklace, F21 bag

Love this outfit! I've done this too, every so often I'll find a piece in my mum's wardrobe that will totally be on trend right now and it becomes mine - she doesn't have a say in the matter lol! Its so funny how some pieces come back into fashion!

I'm currently in the market for some black high-waisted skinny jeans that don't fade. The ones you're wearing in these images look as black as night, would you recommend them or were they pretty new when you wore them for this post?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
To be fair these are fairly new but have seen a couple of washes and no fading so far, I find DP is usually really good for denim!
