Our final day in Paris was a bit more relaxed, but still held some of my favourite memories from the trip. We had a late check out as our journey home didn't start until 10pm, so had the first lie-in (well deserved we thought), packed up and headed out for a lunch.
I'd seen great reviews about Café Pinson, along with many instagram and twitter posts about it during PFW, so couldn't miss it before we left. It's a vegan/ vegetarian place, and after two full days if bread, cheese, wine and croissants some healthy veggie stuff was a welcome change. Did it taste healthy? Like little mouthfuls of heaven. Seriously some of the best food I've eaten. They did 3 courses for €20, which is super reasonable considering the amount you get. I went for a super food salad to start, with chestnuts, sweet potato and other tasty vegetables followed by a butternut squash risotto-type dish. I say 'type' because it wasn't greasy or oily like your typical risotto, more sticky and full of flavour and garnished with orange zest- delicious! For pudding I had a vegan chocolate mouse, which I assume was made from soy milk, which again was incredible. Lizzy also had some amazing dishes as well, if your in Paris and are a vegan/ vegetarian or just like healthy food, I would seriously recommend this lovely little place.
Next stop was the Notre Dame, but en route we got caught in a little bit of rain and typical me wore the most in appropriate slipper shoes that got completely saturated. Not fun. I remembered walking past a shoe shop on the way to Café Pinson, and on the way back decided to pop in and buy the cracked white brogues I'd spied in the window. They're my new faves, literally have worn them everyday since I've been back.
We got to the Notre Dame late afternoon (proudly dressed in new shoes), the low light made it look even more enchanting. I expected the grand architecture and how big it was, but not how powerful it would be inside. The vastness of space and decor are simply breathtaking, combined with candle-lit walkways and sounds of the priest singing it was enough to move me deeply.
After wandering around the cathedral admiring every nook and cranny, we left for the Eiffel Tower. The journey there would have been a lot simpler if we hadn't got the RER the wrong way and ended up in the dodgy outskirts of Paris, but we made it there eventually! I think the photos speak enough for how amazing the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower was at night, perfect end to a perfect few days. I'm missing it dreadfully, but for now it's back to real life. Paris, you babe. I hope I get to see you again soon.
